Welcome to Weston House

Independent Living

Empowering
Our Residents

From encouraging residents to make their room their own to days out in the community, we are here to help our residents feel independent.

At Weston House, we advocate independent living, and empower our residents to make their own choices, to feel independent and live in a positive environment where their individual needs as people come first. Service users are free to personalise their bedrooms to their taste and preferences.

Every resident has their own key to their bedroom. We have a resident’s kitchenette for making drinks and snacks, which also has a washer-dryer residents can use if they wish. Residents are encouraged to go to the shops if they can safely do so, and if they need something for a specific hobby, we will order in their requirements. All rooms have televisions and internet access if signed off in their personal care plan.

Personal Choices

We have an extensive range of events and activities so residents can choose what they want to do, either independently or accompanied. Each resident’s keyworker works closely with them designing their chosen timetable and discussing their likes and preferences to ensure everyone’s activity plan suits them.

Helping Residents
To Move Back Home

Our aim through comprehensive care and dedication to our residents is to help them to live their life happily and safely and where possible back in their home in their community.

When an individual’s care team believe they are ready, we are looking to introduce a stepping stone to help the transition from 24 hour care to independence. We have a separate bungalow, that whilst still set within the grounds of Weston House, is a standalone house, where residents could be in control of their own daily routine and needs but we are here should they need us.

This period within the bungalow will make the move from the care home to community a gentler transition. Residents can trial independent living under the watchful eye of our team who can be there if needed.

Sucess Story

Marc lived at Weston House, but with dedicated support from staff, he was able to move out and live independently. The Weston House team worked with Marc to create a personalised support plan, covering a variety of areas, including safeguarding, self-care and managing mental health. As well as gaining practical life skills. Staff helped Marc to grow in self-confidence and work towards achieving his goals.

Rachel Joinson Registered Manager said: “Marc is a real success story for Weston House. Getting ready to move on can seem daunting, but through his hard work and engagement with the team, Marc quickly gained all the skills he needed to live independently.”
